Version 1.0 · Effective 1 September 2026
Published by Pinkster Protestante Kerk Kraaifontein t/a Christ Life Church
1. What this policy covers
This policy applies to every offering, tithe or donation made to Pinkster Protestante Kerk Kraaifontein t/a Christ Life Church ("the Church", "we", "us"), whether given through our website, through an online payment provider, by card at a service, or by electronic funds transfer.
The Church does not sell goods or services and does not operate an online store. The only payments we receive are voluntary offerings given in support of the ministry and work of the Church. This policy should be read together with our Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy.
2. The nature of an offering
An offering is a gift. Once it is received it is applied to the ministry, outreach and running costs of the Church, and it is therefore, by its nature, not refundable. We do not offer a change-of-mind refund, and giving to the Church is not a purchase to which a cooling-off period applies.
If something went wrong, please tell us. While offerings are not refundable as a matter of course, we do not want anyone to be out of pocket because of a genuine mistake. Where a payment was made in error we will always look at it, and where it is right to do so we will refund it.
3. When we will refund
We will consider and, where we are satisfied that the payment was genuinely made in error, refund an offering in the following circumstances:
- Duplicate payment. The same gift was processed more than once, whether because of a technical fault or because the payment was submitted twice.
- Incorrect amount. An amount materially different from the one intended was captured or processed — for example a misplaced decimal point, or an extra digit.
- Technical or processing error. A fault on our website, or with the payment provider, resulted in a payment that was not intended.
- Unauthorised use of a card or account. The payment was made by someone who was not entitled to use that card or bank account. See section 7.
A refund request must reach us within 30 days of the date of the transaction. We may still assist outside that period, but we cannot guarantee it, as funds are allocated and reconciled on an ongoing basis.
4. How to request a refund
Contact the church office as soon as you become aware of the problem. Please give us:
- your name and the contact details we can reach you on;
- the date and amount of the payment;
- how the payment was made (online, card at a service, or electronic transfer);
- a reference — the payment provider's reference number, or the last four digits of the card, or a bank statement entry; and
- a short explanation of what went wrong.
Requests are reviewed by the church office together with the person responsible for the Church's finances. We aim to acknowledge a request within five working days and to conclude it within 30 days of receiving everything we need. We will tell you in writing what we have decided, and if we cannot refund the gift we will explain why.
5. How a refund is paid
An approved refund is paid back to the same card, account or payment method the gift came from. We do not pay refunds in cash, to a third party, or to a different account from the one used to give.
Refunds are made for the full amount that was received in error. We do not charge an administration fee. How long the money takes to reflect is determined by the payment provider and your bank, and is outside our control — a card reversal in particular may take several working days.
Where a gift has already been included in a Section 18A tax receipt, a refund will require that receipt to be corrected or withdrawn, and we will let you know when that is the case.
6. Designated gifts
Where you designate a gift for a particular purpose, we will apply it to that purpose. If that purpose is fully funded or can no longer be carried out, we may apply the gift to a related purpose in the ministry of the Church rather than refund it. A change in how a designated gift is applied is not, on its own, a ground for a refund.
7. Unauthorised transactions
If you believe your card or bank account has been used to give to the Church without your permission, please contact us immediately and also report it to your bank or card issuer. We will co-operate fully with your bank, with the payment provider and, where necessary, with the South African Police Service, and we will refund a payment that we are satisfied was not authorised.
8. No goods, delivery or cancellation
Because the Church does not sell goods or services online, there is nothing to deliver, return, exchange or cancel. Where the Church occasionally collects payment for a specific event, course or resource, the terms and any cancellation arrangements for that item will be made clear at the time, and those terms will apply to it instead of this policy.
9. If you are not satisfied
If you are unhappy with how we have dealt with a refund request, please raise it with our Information Officer, Pastor Ian Maree, at ian@christ-life-church.co.za, and we will review the decision. Nothing in this policy limits any right you may have under South African law, including your rights against your bank or card issuer.
